Apex Structural Solutions is seeking an experienced Remote Structural Engineer to help design safe, efficient, and innovative building structures from anywhere in the United States. This fully remote opportunity combines technical excellence, collaborative project work, and the flexibility to manage your schedule without sacrificing engineering quality. If you are ready to deliver meaningful work while advancing your civil engineering career, we want to meet you.

About the Remote Structural Engineer Role

In this position, you will perform structural analysis and design for commercial, residential, and mixed-use projects across the United States. You will translate client requirements into practical engineering solutions, review building systems, and ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements. Working with architects, contractors, and fellow engineers, you will contribute from concept development through construction support.

As a fully remote Structural Engineer, you will have access to a distributed team, modern digital tools, and projects that value thoughtful design, clear communication, and dependable follow-through.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop structural calculations, analysis models, drawings, and construction documents for building projects.
  • Assess existing structures and recommend efficient solutions for repairs, renovations, or modifications.
  • Design concrete, steel, timber, and lightweight structural systems according to project requirements.
  • Apply building codes, load criteria, seismic principles, and recognized engineering standards.
  • Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, owners, and construction teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Review subcontractor submittals and provide informed responses during construction administration.
  • Conduct quality-control checks to verify the accuracy and completeness of engineering deliverables.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Four or more years of progressive structural design experience, preferably in building projects.
  • Strong understanding of structural analysis, load paths, foundations, and building-system behavior.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS, SAP2000, or comparable engineering software.
  • Experience interpreting international building codes, local regulations, and project-specific criteria.
  • Excellent written communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical information clearly.
  • Reliable internet access and a suitable home office for secure collaboration and project delivery.

Preferred Credentials

Candidates with a current Professional Engineer license in at least one U.S. state are highly desirable. Additional experience with seismic design, high-performance buildings, building envelope coordination, finite-element analysis, or sustainable structural systems may strengthen your application. Familiarity with Building Information Modeling workflows and virtual project management platforms is also valued.

Salary Range and Compensation

The estimated salary range for this Remote Structural Engineer position is $82,000–$126,000 USD per year, depending on education, professional licensure, geographic location, and demonstrated expertise. Apex Structural Solutions also offers performance-based incentives and opportunities for compensation growth as responsibilities expand. This is an estimate based on current U.S. structural engineering market standards rather than a guaranteed fixed salary.

Benefits of Working Remotely

  • Full work-from-home flexibility for eligible candidates residing in the United States.
  • Competitive annual compensation and opportunity for professional advancement.
  • Health, dental, and vision benefits for eligible full-time employees.
  • Paid time off, holidays, and supportive leave policies.
  • Continuing education, code-training, and professional membership support.
  • Home-office stipend and access to modern engineering technology.
  • Inclusive culture, mentorship, and collaboration with a national project team.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means delivering accurate designs, communicating proactively, and helping clients make confident decisions. The ideal Structural Engineer is analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently while remaining an active part of a collaborative team. You will thrive here if you enjoy challenging projects, continuous learning, and engineering work with a lasting impact.
