While the role is fully remote, you will be virtually embedded within the datacenter operations team, providing remote hands support, monitoring infrastructure, deploying servers, and managing incident response.

You will work closely with cloud engineers, network architects, and IT operations managers to ensure that physical and virtual infrastructure runs smoothly 24/7/365. Your day will involve handling escalations, performing diagnostics, managing hardware lifecycles, and proactively identifying risks before they impact business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide remote hands-and-eyes support for datacenter hardware, including servers, storage arrays, and network devices.
  • Monitor infrastructure health using advanced NMS, DCIM, and observability platforms.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and connectivity issues, escalating to engineering teams when necessary.
  • Assist with server provisioning, racking, stacking, and decommissioning workflows.
  • Manage ticket queues, incident response, and root cause analysis documentation.
  • Maintain asset tracking databases and ensure compliance with security and operational standards.
  • Collaborate with vendors and field technicians for hardware replacements and on-site interventions.

Requirements

Technical Skills

  • 3+ years of experience working in datacenter operations, IT infrastructure, or systems administration.
  • Strong understanding of server hardware (Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant, Cisco UCS), Linux/Windows server environments, and RAID configurations.
  • Hands-on experience with networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, BGP, OSPF, and firewalls.
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM) and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience using monitoring and ticketing tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus.

Soft Skills & Certifications

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Strong written communication skills for documenting procedures and incident reports.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, remote-first environment with shifting priorities.
  • Preferred certifications: CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, ITIL Foundation, or AWS Cloud Practitioner.

Benefits

  • Fully Remote Work: Work from anywhere in the U.S. with flexible scheduling and optional on-site travel opportunities.
  • Competitive Compensation: Annual salary between $55,000 and $85,000 plus performance-based bonuses.
  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus mental health support.
  • Career Growth: Sponsored certifications, paid training, and clear advancement paths into Cloud Engineering or Infrastructure Architecture roles.
  • Generous PTO: Paid time off, holidays, and parental leave to support work-life balance.
  • Home Office Stipend: One-time setup allowance and monthly internet reimbursement.
