Job Summary

Cardinal Health is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join its Commercial Technologies team in Charleston, Kanawha County, US. This senior role will lead the design and delivery of back‑end platforms that power the company’s commercial technology portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable back‑end services and APIs supporting Cardinal Health’s commercial products.
• Collaborate with product owners, UX designers, and data engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and champion best‑practice coding standards.
• Drive performance optimization, reliability engineering, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend strategic enhancements to improve customer experience.
• Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and data‑privacy standards across all solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or staff‑level role.
• Strong proficiency in Java, C#, or Python and experience with micro‑services architecture.
• Hands‑on expertise with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and deliver complex projects on schedule.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.

Compensation & Benefits
