About This Position
Job Summary
JPI is seeking a Manager, Project GC Accounting to lead the general contractor accounting function for its development projects in Dallas, Texas. This senior‑level role oversees financial reporting, budgeting, and cost control for large‑scale real estate builds.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily accounting operations for all general contractor (GC) projects, ensuring accurate posting of invoices, change orders, and retainage.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and year‑end financial statements, variance reports, and cash flow forecasts for each development.
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators and the construction team to develop and maintain project budgets, cost codes, and forecasting models.
- Lead the month‑end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and audit support.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirements; oversee internal and external audit activities.
- Implement and improve data‑driven accounting procedures using JPI’s proprietary financial models and market research tools.
- Mentor and develop a small team of accounting specialists, providing training on construction accounting best practices.
- Provide actionable financial insights to senior leadership to support strategic decision‑making and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in construction or real‑estate project accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, job‑cost accounting, and financial reporting for large development projects.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Yardi) and advanced Excel skills; experience with data‑analytics tools is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership abilities.
Compensation & Benefits
