Job Summary

Mercor is seeking a contract Lawyer – AI Trainer to work remotely on short‑term projects supporting leading AI research labs. This role is based in New York City, New York, with an annual compensation of $85,485.25.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and create legal task templates and deliverables for common AI‑related requests.
• Draft, review, and refine contracts, data use agreements, and compliance documentation for AI research initiatives.
• Collaborate with technical and creative teams to ensure legal considerations are integrated into AI training workflows.
• Provide concise legal guidance on intellectual property, privacy, and regulatory issues specific to AI development.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of AI‑focused legislation and industry standards.
• Assist in preparing briefing materials and risk assessments for AI projects.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 2+ years of experience drafting and negotiating contracts, preferably with technology or AI companies.
• Strong understanding of AI ethics, data privacy (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and intellectual property law.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex legal concepts for non‑legal audiences.
• Self‑starter with ability to manage 15–30 hours per week over a 3–4 week contract period.
