About This Position
Job Summary
Jean Tweed Centre is seeking a Counsellor, Advanced Practice to join its multidisciplinary team in Swansea, City of Toronto. This role provides specialised support to women facing substance use, mental health, and gambling challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individual and group counselling using evidence‑based therapeutic approaches.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans that address substance use, mental health, and gambling concerns.
- Collaborate with social workers, physicians, and community partners to ensure holistic care.
- Conduct risk assessments, crisis interventions, and ongoing progress monitoring.
- Facilitate workshops and educational sessions on coping strategies, relapse prevention, and wellness.
- Maintain accurate, confidential client records in compliance with regulatory standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Master’s degree in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology or a related field.
- Registered as an Advanced Practice Counsellor (or equivalent) in Ontario.
- Minimum 3 years experience working with women dealing with substance use, mental health, or gambling issues.
- Strong knowledge of trauma‑informed care, harm reduction, and culturally competent practice.
- Excellent communication, empathy, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload and work flexible hours, including evenings as needed.
