Northbridge Financial Corporation is seeking an Underwriting Specialist for Health, Education, and Social Services in Toronto, Ontario. In this role you will design and service tailored insurance solutions for commercial clients, collaborating closely with brokers and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and underwrite complex risk portfolios within the health, education, and social services sectors.
- Develop customized insurance programs that meet client needs while adhering to company guidelines.
- Maintain and grow relationships with a network of brokers, providing expert advice and timely service.
- Prepare detailed risk analyses, pricing recommendations, and policy documentation.
- Monitor account performance, manage renewals, and identify opportunities for cross‑selling.
- Stay current on regulatory changes and industry trends affecting the target sectors.
- Collaborate with claims, actuarial, and legal teams to resolve underwriting issues.
Qualifications
- Post‑secondary education in finance, insurance, risk management or related field; professional designations (e.g., CPCU, ARM) are a plus.
- Minimum 2‑4 years underwriting experience, preferably in health, education, or social services markets.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex risk factors.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Proficiency with underwriting software and Microsoft Office suite.
- Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
