Accounting Manager, Payroll/AP

New Hampshire Housing is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager, Payroll/AP to join its Bedford, Hillsborough County, US office. This role oversees payroll processing, accounts payable, and financial reporting while supporting the agency’s mission to expand affordable housing across New Hampshire.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle payroll for all agency staff, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
• Oversee accounts payable functions, including invoice verification, vendor payments, and month‑end reconciliations.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, budget reports, and grant‑related documentation.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing payroll, tax filings, and housing program funding.
• Lead, train, and mentor junior accounting staff and payroll specialists.
• Collaborate with program managers to track funding sources and allocate expenses appropriately.
• Conduct internal audits, identify process improvements, and implement best practices for financial controls.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including payroll and AP management.
• Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex) and ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, FASB guidelines, and applicable New Hampshire tax statutes.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.

Compensation & Benefits
