About the Role

As a Remote Datacenter Technician, you will act as the digital backbone of our global infrastructure. Unlike traditional onsite roles that require physical presence in a cold-aisle environment, this position focuses on the high-level logical management, remote troubleshooting, and orchestration of large-scale data center assets. You will be responsible for ensuring maximum uptime and seamless connectivity for our mission-critical services.

You will work closely with network engineers and systems administrators to monitor server health, manage virtual machines, and troubleshoot connectivity issues through advanced remote management interfaces. This is a high-impact role where your ability to diagnose complex system failures and manage automated deployment scripts will directly influence our operational success.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor system performance and network traffic using industry-leading monitoring tools to ensure 99.99% uptime.
• Perform remote troubleshooting of hardware alerts, power distribution issues, and cooling system telemetry.
• Manage and configure virtualized environments, including VMware, KVM, and cloud-native instances.
• Coordinate with onsite vendor technicians for physical hardware replacements and maintenance via detailed remote instructions.
• Execute routine software patches, firmware updates, and security configuration deployments across distributed clusters.
• Document all system changes, incident reports, and hardware lifecycle statuses within our centralized management platform.

Salary Range

$65,000 – $88,000 USD/year (Based on experience and technical certifications)

Requirements

Technical Skills & Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in data center operations, systems administration, or network engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of server hardware architecture (Dell PowerEdge, HP ProLiant, or similar).
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix administration and command-line interface (CLI) operations.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and VLAN tagging.
• Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies and containerization (Docker or Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with remote management tools such as IPMI, iDRAC, or ILO.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CCNA, or Azure/AWS Cloud Practitioner are highly preferred.
