RICK, a 70‑year‑old engineering, planning and design firm based in San Diego, California, is hiring a Director of Environmental Planning. This senior role leads the Environmental Services Division, shaping strategy and delivering high‑impact projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement environmental planning strategies for public and private sector projects.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams, providing mentorship and performance feedback.
- Oversee regulatory compliance, permitting processes, and stakeholder engagement.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables to meet client expectations.
- Cultivate new business opportunities and maintain client relationships.
- Prepare technical reports, environmental impact assessments, and presentation materials.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Planning, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).

- Proven leadership experience managing large, complex projects.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional licensure or certification (e.g., PE, CPE) is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
