Job Summary
Jacobs is seeking a Structural Engineer (Subject Matter Expert – Data Centers) in Kansas City, Jackson County, US. This senior role leads structural engineering for new‑build and retrofit data center projects across the United States.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance on structural design for data center facilities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
- Lead and review structural calculations, drawings, and specifications for new construction and retrofit projects.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including MEP, civil, and construction managers—to integrate structural solutions.
- Develop and maintain best‑practice design guidelines and technical standards for data center structures.
- Mentor junior engineers and support professional development within the team.
- Participate in client meetings, technical presentations, and risk assessments.
- Perform site inspections and support construction administration as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in structural engineering, with at least 3 years focused on data center or high‑tech facilities.
- Proficiency with structural analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, RISA) and BIM tools.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, seismic, wind, and load requirements for critical facilities.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
Compensation
Annual salary: $168,084.92
Location
This position is remote‑eligible across the United States, with a preference for candidates located near a Jacobs U.S. office, especially Kansas City, Jackson County.
