About This Position

Job Summary

Community Change is seeking a passionate Childcare Senior Organizer to lead and expand its early‑childhood organizing efforts in Washington, D.C. This senior‑level role offers a competitive salary of $95,000‑$115,000 and a chance to empower low‑income families and communities of color.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement strategic organizing campaigns focused on childcare access, affordability, and quality for low‑income families.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor a diverse team of organizers, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Build and sustain coalitions with schools, nonprofit agencies, labor unions, and local government to advance policy change.
  • Conduct research and data analysis to identify gaps in childcare services and develop evidence‑based advocacy positions.
  • Lead public education initiatives, including community workshops, webinars, and media outreach.
  • Manage budgets, grant reporting, and fundraising activities related to the childcare program.
  • Represent Community Change at public hearings, coalition meetings, and national conferences.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of organizing or advocacy experience, preferably in early childhood, education, or social‑justice fields.
  • Demonstrated success in building power among low‑income and communities of color.
  • Strong public speaking, facilitation, and coalition‑building skills.
  • Excellent written communication, including policy briefs, op‑eds, and grant proposals.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, and staff in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Policy, Education, or related field (Master’s preferred).
