The Town of Fort Myers Beach is hiring an Assistant Finance Director in Saint James City, Lee County, FL. This essential, exempt role pays $110,242.14 annually and reports directly to the Finance Director.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing finance team.
• Maintain internal controls, compliance with GAAP, and audit readiness.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts for town leadership.
• Support the Finance Director with strategic financial planning and policy development.
• Coordinate with external auditors, vendors, and governmental agencies.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of municipal finance, budgeting, and public‑sector accounting standards.
• Proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
