IO Associates is seeking a Structures DER Consultant – Composites Expert to work remotely for a leading aerospace program, with occasional travel. This part‑time advisory contract offers a fixed annual salary of $166,846.88 (equivalent to $140‑$180/hour).

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on FAA certification strategy for composite primary structures.
• Lead fatigue analysis, damage tolerance assessments, and structural testing plans.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team to develop and review design data packages.
• Prepare and review compliance documentation, reports, and certification deliverables.
• Support risk management and mitigation activities related to composite structures.
• Travel occasionally to client sites or test facilities as required.

Required Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years experience in FAA Structures Designated Engineering Representative (DER) role, specifically with composites.
• Deep knowledge of FAR 23/25, fatigue, damage tolerance, and certification processes.
• Proven track record of successful certification of composite aircraft structures.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
• US citizenship or permanent residency; ability to obtain necessary security clearances.
