Tech Lead – Platform

Job Summary

Carbon Health is seeking a Tech Lead – Platform to join its innovative team in Philatelic, Alameda County, US. Lead the design, development, and scaling of the company’s custom electronic health record (EHR) platform while collaborating with clinicians, engineers, and designers.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end architecture of the Platform layer supporting Carbon Health’s EHR and AI‑driven charting tools.
• Mentor and guide a cross‑functional engineering team, fostering best practices in code quality, testing, and continuous delivery.
• Partner with product, design, and clinical stakeholders to translate healthcare needs into robust technical solutions.
• Drive performance, security, and compliance initiatives to meet HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and champion innovative approaches that improve patient care and operational efficiency.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and incident response, ensuring high availability of critical services.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role.
• Strong expertise in building scalable backend systems (e.g., microservices, APIs, cloud infrastructure).
• Proficiency in languages such as Java, Go, Python, or Node.js and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience with healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7) and a solid understanding of HIPAA compliance.
• Excellent communication skills and a passion for improving patient outcomes.

Preferred Skills

• Background in medical informatics or previous work on EHR platforms.
• Familiarity with AI/ML integration, especially for clinical documentation.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.

Compensation

Annual salary: $161,209.86 (USD)
