Senior Software Engineer – Risk

Job Summary

PPRO is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Risk to join its technology team in Barre Junction, Washington County, US. This role will design and implement risk‑management systems that protect our global payment platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain high‑performance risk assessment services supporting payments for partners such as Ant Group, PayPal and Stripe.
• Collaborate with product owners, data scientists, and security teams to define risk rules, scoring models, and real‑time fraud detection pipelines.
• Write clean, test‑driven code in Java/Scala and leverage cloud services (AWS, GCP) for scalable micro‑service deployment.
• Perform code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and champion best practices for reliability, observability, and security.
• Analyze large data sets to identify emerging fraud patterns and continuously improve detection algorithms.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and incident response for risk‑related production issues.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in payments, fintech or fraud detection.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Scala, or Kotlin and experience with RESTful API design.
• Deep understanding of risk management concepts, fraud detection, and regulatory compliance (PCI DSS, GDPR).
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Solid knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring tools (Jenkins, Prometheus, Grafana).
• Excellent problem‑solving skills, strong communication, and ability to work in a distributed, multicultural team.

• Experience with machine‑learning models for fraud detection.
