Staff Data Engineer
About This Position
PPRO is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join its Munich, Cavalier County office. This senior role will lead the design, development, and optimisation of large‑scale data pipelines that power global payment solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and maintain robust, scalable data platforms supporting real‑time and batch processing.
- Collaborate with product, analytics, and engineering teams to translate business needs into data solutions.
- Define data models, governance standards, and best practices for data quality, security, and compliance.
- Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and champion a culture of continuous improvement.
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and implement cost‑effective cloud‑based solutions.
Required Experience & Skills
- 10+ years of hands‑on experience in data engineering, preferably in fintech or payment services.
- Deep expertise with SQL, Python/Scala, and modern data stack tools (e.g., Spark, Flink, Kafka, Airflow).
- Extensive experience designing data warehouses/lakes on cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Strong understanding of data governance, GDPR, and PCI‑DSS compliance.
- Proven leadership abilities and excellent communication skills.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer) are a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $135,721.89 per year.
