Lead Network Engineer – Carrier Engineering
Wells Fargo is hiring a Lead Network Engineer for its Carrier Engineering Services team in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, US. This senior role designs and manages highly available, resilient transport networks that support the bank’s nationwide operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, deployment, and optimization of carrier‑grade and large‑enterprise network solutions.
- Design resilient, high‑capacity transport fabrics using MPLS, Ethernet, SD‑WAN, and emerging technologies.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate network services with business applications and cloud platforms.
- Drive operational excellence through proactive monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor junior engineers, conduct technical reviews, and enforce best‑practice standards.
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure cost‑effective service delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of network engineering experience, including 4+ years in a lead or senior role.
- Deep expertise in carrier‑grade routing (BGP, OSPF), switching, MPLS, QoS, and SD‑WAN technologies.
- Hands‑on experience with network design tools, automation (Python, Ansible), and monitoring platforms.
- Strong understanding of telecommunications protocols, fiber optics, and transport security.
- Proven ability to manage large‑scale projects and lead multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Skills
- Professional certifications such as CCNP, CCDP, or JNCIP.
- Experience with cloud networking (AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute).
- Knowledge of network virtualization and NFV concepts.
Compensation
Salary range: $185,987.77 per year.
