Job Summary
MiniMed is seeking a Director of State Government Affairs to lead its U.S. Government Affairs initiatives from Washington, D.C. This senior role guides policy strategy across all 50 states, influencing legislation that impacts diabetes care and medical device regulation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive state‑level government affairs strategy aligned with MiniMed’s corporate objectives.
- Build and maintain relationships with state legislators, regulators, industry associations, and advocacy groups.
- Monitor state legislation, regulations, and policy trends; provide timely analysis and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Lead a cross‑functional team of policy analysts and lobbyists, ensuring coordinated advocacy efforts.
- Represent MiniMed at public hearings, roundtables, and industry conferences.
- Prepare briefing materials, testimony, and position papers for senior executives and elected officials.
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, and commercial teams to assess the impact of state policies on product launch and market access.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in state government affairs, public policy, or regulatory advocacy, preferably within the healthcare or medical device sector.
- Proven track record of influencing state legislation and building coalitions.
- Strong understanding of U.S. healthcare policy, FDA regulations, and reimbursement frameworks.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and public speaking skills.
- Ability to travel nationally and work effectively in a fast‑paced, matrixed environment.
