Job Summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Director, Cybersecurity to lead and shape the security strategy for its technology division. This senior role can be performed remotely or on‑site in Washington, D.C., with hybrid options available in North Carolina and Minnesota.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute a comprehensive cybersecurity roadmap aligned with business objectives.
• Lead a cross‑functional team of security engineers, analysts, and incident responders.
• Oversee risk assessments, vulnerability management, and penetration testing programs.
• Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and governance frameworks.
• Collaborate with product, data, and AI teams to embed security into the software development lifecycle.
• Manage security incidents, conduct root‑cause analysis, and drive continuous improvement.
• Report security posture, metrics, and compliance status to executive leadership.
• Stay current on emerging threats, regulations, and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in information security, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven expertise in cloud security (AWS, Azure), network security, and identity & access management.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as HIPAA, HITRUST, GDPR, and NIST CSF.
• Professional certifications (CISSP, CISM, CISA, or equivalent) preferred.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
