About This Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking a Financial Clearance Specialist (GHOB) to work remotely from Nashville, Davidson County. This role ensures accurate patient financial eligibility and insurance verification for the health system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits for all scheduled services.
  • Obtain prior authorizations and ensure compliance with payer requirements.
  • Coordinate with clinical and billing teams to resolve financial discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate records in the electronic health record (EHR) and financial systems.
  • Educate patients on financial policies, payment options, and out‑of‑pocket estimates.
  • Monitor and report on key performance metrics related to clearance times and denial rates.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years experience in medical insurance verification, patient financial services, or hospital revenue cycle.
  • Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer guidelines.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with patients and providers.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (Epic, Cerner) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to meet tight deadlines in a remote environment.
