Job Summary
Actalent is seeking a Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer for a hybrid role based in Grand Central, Manhattan, NY. This senior engineering position offers a fixed annual salary of $125,764.52 and combines hands‑on design work with mentorship and project leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of plumbing, sanitary, and fire protection systems for commercial, institutional and mixed‑use projects.
- Ensure all designs comply with NYC Building Code, NFPA standards, and client specifications.
- Produce detailed calculations, schematics, BIM models, and construction documents.
- Mentor junior engineers and drafters, providing technical guidance and performance feedback.
- Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, contractors, and municipal officials throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review shop drawings, conduct site inspections, and support construction administration to verify design intent.
- Participate in value‑engineering studies and cost‑optimization initiatives.
- Stay current on emerging technologies, sustainability practices, and regulatory updates.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience designing plumbing and fire protection systems in a fast‑paced urban environment.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and hydraulic/fire analysis software (e.g., HASS, Hydraflow, FDS).
- Strong knowledge of NYC plumbing codes, NFPA 13, NFPA 14, and related standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
