About This Position
The Building Regulations Principal Designer role at Morson Edge is a senior, remote‑hybrid position based in Norton, Sheffield, offering a competitive salary of £80,000. You will lead Building Regulations compliance and design risk management across a variety of education, residential, retail and commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality Building Regulations compliance and design risk management services in line with the Building Safety Act 2022 and related regulations.
- Act as the principal designer on multiple projects, coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors and clients to ensure safety and regulatory standards are met.
- Conduct design reviews, risk assessments and produce compliance documentation for all phases of construction.
- Provide expert advice on regulatory changes, helping the consultancy stay ahead of industry standards.
- Travel to project sites as required to oversee on‑site compliance and support the project team.
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to internal training programmes.
Required Skills & Experience
- Professional qualification in building design, architecture or engineering (RIBA, ARB, CIBSE, etc.).
- Proven experience as a Building Regulations Principal Designer or similar senior role.
- In‑depth knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022, Approved Document B and other relevant regulations.
- Strong project management and stakeholder communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a remote/hybrid environment while maintaining strong team collaboration.
- Willingness to travel across the UK for site visits.
