About the Role

Lumina Power Designs is hiring a Remote Electrical Designer to become a core member of our distributed engineering studio. In this position, you will develop detailed electrical schematics, panel board schedules, lighting layouts, and power distribution plans using the latest CAD and BIM software. Working entirely from home, you will collaborate with senior engineers, project managers, and clients through secure cloud platforms to deliver NEC-compliant designs on time and within budget.

Core Responsibilities

• Produce single-line diagrams, riser diagrams, and floor plan power layouts for new construction and retrofit projects.
• Calculate electrical loads, short-circuit ratings, and voltage drop to ensure safe and efficient system performance.
• Specify transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, and conduit routing with cost-effective precision.
• Coordinate with mechanical and architectural teams in Revit to resolve clashes before construction documents are issued.
• Review shop drawings and subcontractor bids, providing clear remote feedback to keep projects on track.
• Maintain organized digital project files and participate in weekly virtual design reviews.

Requirements

We are looking for a self-motivated designer who thrives in a work-from-home environment. The ideal candidate will bring:

• An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in electrical design, drafting, or BIM modeling.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Bluebeam Revu.
• Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), IEEE standards, and energy conservation codes.
• Excellent written communication skills for asynchronous remote collaboration.

Salary Range

Based on current industry benchmarks for remote electrical design talent in the United States, we provide a transparent and competitive compensation structure:

$72,000 – $98,000 USD/year, commensurate with experience, software skills, and project portfolio. High-performing designers can also qualify for annual performance bonuses and a yearly home-office technology stipend.
