Job Summary
The Interim Finance Business Partner role at MCS Group, based in Cookstown, Northern Ireland, offers a strategic finance leadership position supporting the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service. This fixed‑term role provides a full financial management service to designated directorates with a salary of £45,000.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary finance business partner for assigned directorates, delivering accurate budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
- Provide senior leaders with insightful financial advice to influence decision‑making and drive performance improvements.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, ensuring compliance with public‑sector accounting standards.
- Lead the development and monitoring of cost‑control initiatives and capital expenditure programmes.
- Collaborate with internal audit and external stakeholders to ensure robust financial governance.
- Support the implementation of financial systems and process enhancements.
- Mentor and develop junior finance staff within the team.
Required Skills & Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with at least 5 years of relevant finance experience.
- Proven experience in a business partnering role within the public sector or a large‑scale organisation.
- Strong analytical abilities and confidence presenting financial information to senior executives.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with finance ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
