Are you a proactive security sleuth who thrives on stopping threats before they happen? NorthStar Cyber Solutions is hiring a fully remote Information Security Analyst to join our distributed defense team and protect enterprise clients worldwide from the comfort of your own home office.

About the Role

As a 100% remote Information Security Analyst, you will monitor, detect, and respond to cybersecurity incidents without ever commuting to a physical office. You will work alongside senior engineers in a flexible, async-first environment where your analysis directly reduces risk for healthcare, finance, and SaaS organizations across three continents. This is a true work-from-home position: you set up your workspace, we provide the tools and trust.

Your Impact

You will own alert prioritization, lead phishing investigations, and mentor junior staff via written runbooks. Because this is a remote job, clear written communication is essential; you will run weekly demo calls, maintain living documentation, and ensure the team can operate smoothly without unnecessary meetings.

What You’ll Do

Core Responsibilities

You will triage alerts from SIEM tools, conduct vulnerability assessments, and document incident response playbooks. Daily tasks include reviewing firewall and IDS logs, performing root-cause analysis, and recommending hardening steps to internal stakeholders. You will also support compliance audits by mapping controls to NIST and ISO frameworks.

Tools You’ll Use

We operate with CrowdStrike, Splunk, Qualys, and Microsoft Sentinel. You’ll automate repetitive queries using Python and PowerShell to accelerate threat hunting across cloud and on-premises estates, giving you more time for deep analysis.

Requirements

Must-Have Skills

  • 3+ years in a SOC, threat analysis, or security operations center role.
  • Strong grasp of MITRE ATT&CK, OWASP Top 10, and NIST 800-61 incident handling.
  • Active Security+ or equivalent certification; CISSP or CEH strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a remote setting using Slack, Zoom, and Jira.
  • Excellent written English for documentation and cross-timezone handoffs.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure) and container orchestration.
  • Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go for automation of detection logic.
  • Familiarity with compliance regimes such as SOC 2, HIPAA, or PCI-DSS.

Salary Range

Based on current industry standards for a fully remote U.S.-based analyst, we offer $82,000 – $118,000 USD/year, plus a performance bonus and stock options. Final offer depends on verified experience and may be adjusted for candidates residing in other approved regions. This range reflects median market data for remote information security roles collected in 2024.

Benefits

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • 100% work-from-home setup with a $1,500 annual home-office stipend.
  • Flexible PTO, 12 weeks parental leave, and four-day summer work weeks.
  • Monthly internet and wellness reimbursements up to $75 per month.
  • Quarterly cybersecurity conference budget of $500 for remote attendance.
  • Free certified training paths (SANS, OffSec) and dedicated Friday learning time.

Our Remote Culture

We are a fully distributed company with team members across 14 time zones. You set your schedule as long as you cover a 4-hour overlap with U.S. Eastern Time for collaboration. We trust you to manage outcomes, not clock hours, and we celebrate written transparency over status meetings.
