About This Position

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage high‑stakes litigation matters from inception through trial, including pre‑trial motions and post‑trial appeals.
- Draft, argue, and respond to motions—especially dispositive motions such as motions to dismiss and summary judgment.
- Develop comprehensive case strategies in collaboration with partners and clients, focusing on risk assessment and procedural tactics.
- Conduct thorough discovery, including electronic discovery (e‑discovery), document review, and case development.
- Gather and preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and take or defend depositions.
- Prepare and present cases for trial, including opening statements, direct and cross‑examinations, and closing arguments.
- Maintain close communication with public‑entity clients, advising on legal risk, policy implications, and settlement options.
- Mentor junior associates and coordinate with outside counsel as needed.
Required Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in California.
- Minimum 7 years of trial experience in state or federal court, preferably with public‑entity or government clients.
- Proven track record of handling complex civil litigation, including successful motions and trial outcomes.
- Strong analytical, research, and writing skills; ability to craft persuasive arguments.
- Experience with e‑discovery platforms and modern case management tools.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with partners, clients, and support staff.
