Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage high‑stakes litigation matters from inception through trial, including pre‑trial motions and post‑trial appeals.
• Draft, argue, and respond to motions—especially dispositive motions such as motions to dismiss and summary judgment.
• Develop comprehensive case strategies in collaboration with partners and clients, focusing on risk assessment and procedural tactics.
• Conduct thorough discovery, including electronic discovery (e‑discovery), document review, and case development.
• Gather and preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and take or defend depositions.
• Prepare and present cases for trial, including opening statements, direct and cross‑examinations, and closing arguments.
• Maintain close communication with public‑entity clients, advising on legal risk, policy implications, and settlement options.
• Mentor junior associates and coordinate with outside counsel as needed.

Required Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in California.
• Minimum 7 years of trial experience in state or federal court, preferably with public‑entity or government clients.
