About This Position
Job Summary
Carrington West is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its rail and civils team in Nine Ashes, Ingatestone. This hybrid role offers a competitive salary of £45,000‑£55,000 plus a £6,000 car allowance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide commercial insight and cost control on rail and civil engineering projects.
- Support multiple fast‑paced frameworks, preparing estimates, bills of quantities and tender documentation.
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor to ensure accurate forecasting and risk management.
- Assist in procurement, subcontractor negotiations and variation assessments.
- Maintain project budgets, monitor cash flow and produce regular cost reports for stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, health & safety regulations and client requirements.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on rail or civil infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of UK construction contracts and measurement standards.
- Excellent numerical, analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage several projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with industry software such as CostX, Bluebeam or similar.
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is desirable.
