Job Summary

Ochsner Health System is seeking a full‑time Rapid Response Respiratory Therapist for night shifts at its Jefferson Hwy location in New Orleans, Orleans Parish. This critical role provides immediate respiratory care to patients in emergency and acute settings, supporting Ochsner’s mission to serve, heal, lead, educate, and innovate.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond rapidly to emergent respiratory events across the hospital, including code situations and rapid response calls.
• Assess, treat, and monitor patients with acute respiratory distress, providing ventilator management, airway clearance, and oxygen therapy.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record.
• Participate in patient and family education regarding respiratory therapies and equipment.
• Maintain equipment readiness, perform routine checks, and ensure compliance with infection control standards.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and emergency preparedness drills.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in Louisiana.
• Certification as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in acute care, preferably in a fast‑paced hospital environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical ventilation, arterial blood gas interpretation, and emergency airway management.
• Excellent critical‑thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work night shifts (full‑time) and respond to unpredictable call volumes.

Compensation & Benefits
