This fully remote opportunity lets you apply your expertise to high‑impact projects while enjoying the flexibility of working from anywhere in the United States.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Resources Engineer to lead multidisciplinary teams in developing, analyzing, and implementing water‑related infrastructure and regulatory compliance projects. In this fully remote position, you will collaborate virtually with clients, government agencies, and internal experts to deliver engineering designs, conduct hydrological modeling, and ensure projects meet environmental standards while adhering to budget and timeline constraints. Your work will directly contribute to safeguarding water supplies, reducing flood risks, and promoting sustainable land‑water interactions across diverse communities.

Key Responsibilities

Project Design & Analysis

Develop detailed engineering plans for stormwater management, flood mitigation, and water supply systems using industry‑standard software such as HEC‑RAS, SWMM, and GIS tools. Perform hydraulic calculations, design conveyance structures, and evaluate the performance of proposed solutions under varying climate scenarios.

Regulatory Compliance

Interpret and apply federal, state, and local water regulations, preparing permit applications and ensuring project adherence to environmental statutes such as the Clean Water Act. Coordinate with regulatory agencies to expedite approvals and address compliance queries.

Stakeholder Collaboration

Communicate technical findings clearly to non‑technical stakeholders through virtual presentations, comprehensive reports, and interactive dashboards. Facilitate remote workshops and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate diverse expertise into cohesive project outcomes.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering; a Master’s degree is preferred. Minimum 5 years of professional experience in water resources engineering, preferably within a consulting, governmental, or utility setting, demonstrating a track record of successful project delivery.

Technical Skills

Proficiency in hydraulic modeling (HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS), GIS (ArcGIS, QGIS), CAD (AutoCAD Civil 3D), and data analysis tools (Python, MATLAB). Strong understanding of EPA and state water quality standards, as well as experience with hydraulic rating curves, floodplain mapping, and water balance analysis.

Soft Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication, project management acumen, and the ability to thrive in a remote, self‑directed environment. Ability to build rapport with clients and team members through clear, concise, and timely virtual interactions.

Salary Range

Competitive compensation of $48,000 – $72,000 USD per year, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and market benchmarks. Additional performance‑based bonuses may be offered.
