About This Position

Job Summary

Centene is seeking a full‑time Behavioral Health Medical Director to lead clinical initiatives for its extensive member base. This senior role is part of the Medical Management/Health Services team, shaping the delivery of high‑quality behavioral health care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight for behavioral health programs across the organization.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor evidence‑based treatment protocols and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and external partners to ensure coordinated, patient‑centered care.
  • Review and approve complex case plans, utilization reviews, and appeals in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Mentor and support clinical staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Analyze outcomes data to drive performance metrics, cost‑effectiveness, and compliance with Medicaid and other government programs.
  • Represent the organization in external forums, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) with board certification in Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine.
  • Minimum 7 years of clinical experience in behavioral health, including leadership or supervisory roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and other government‑sponsored health plans.
  • Proven ability to develop clinical policies, conduct utilization reviews, and improve care pathways.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Licensure to practice medicine in the United States.
