Transform everyday moments into breakthroughs for people who count on compassionate, consistent support. As a remote-first Direct Support Professional, you’ll deliver personalized care, skill-building, and advocacy through secure virtual connections and community coordination. This role blends empathy with execution, empowering independence while honoring dignity in every interaction.

About the Role

Direct Support Professionals are the heartbeat of progress for individuals navigating intellectual, developmental, and behavioral health needs. In this 100% remote work-from-home position, you will partner with participants and their support networks to design and implement goals that increase autonomy, safety, and joy. You’ll facilitate life-skill coaching, medication and appointment reminders, crisis prevention planning, and community resource navigation, all while documenting outcomes with clarity and care.

Although you’ll work remotely, your presence will be deeply felt through video coaching, phone check-ins, secure messaging, and coordinated in-person support when appropriate and locally permitted. You’ll translate clinical guidance into practical routines—whether that means breaking down budgeting steps, practicing communication strategies, or building healthy habits that last. Success comes from listening closely, adapting quickly, and celebrating small wins that accumulate into big transformations.

What You’ll Do Daily

  • Conduct virtual 1:1 coaching sessions focused on independence, communication, and daily living skills.
  • Coordinate care calendars, track goals, and maintain accurate, confidential participant records.
  • Support medication management workflows, appointment preparation, and transportation planning in collaboration with families and providers.
  • Facilitate safety planning and de-escalation strategies that prioritize dignity and choice.
  • Connect participants to community resources, including employment services, recreation, and peer networks.
  • Communicate clearly with interdisciplinary teams to align on outcomes and adjust supports as needs evolve.

Requirements

We seek compassionate problem-solvers who bring both heart and hustle to complex, human-centered work. While every participant’s journey is unique, our standards ensure you’re equipped to serve with consistency and integrity.

Core Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, social work, or related field strongly preferred.
  • At least one year of experience supporting individuals with intellectual, developmental, or behavioral health needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach life skills, manage schedules, and follow person-centered plans.
  • Clear understanding of confidentiality, HIPAA principles, and mandatory reporting obligations.
  • Reliable high-speed internet, a quiet workspace, and comfort using telehealth and productivity platforms.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to coordinate local in-person support as permitted by regional regulations.

Preferred Attributes

  • Certifications in crisis prevention, first aid/CPR, or direct support practices.
  • Experience with positive behavior supports and trauma-informed care.
  • Fluency in languages beyond English that match participant demographics in your service area.
  • A learner’s mindset toward assistive technologies and accessibility tools.

Salary Range

$42,000 – $58,000 USD/year, depending on experience, certifications, and scope of responsibility. Pay reflects the specialized nature of remote care coordination, outcomes-based coaching, and the trust placed in you by participants and their families.

Benefits

We invest in your stability so you can invest in others. Our benefits package is designed to reduce stress and amplify impact.

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage from day one.
  • Generous paid time off and flexible scheduling to accommodate life’s rhythms.
  • Professional development stipend for certifications, conferences, and continuing education.
  • Technology and connectivity allowance to ensure seamless remote service delivery.
  • Employee assistance program, wellness resources, and peer mentorship networks.

You lead a mix of virtual coaching sessions, goal-tracking updates, and family check-ins, all while documenting outcomes in real time. Afternoons focus on community coordination—researching local programs, aligning with employment specialists, and preparing materials that turn insights into action. Even on quiet days, your presence matters: a reassuring message, a practiced routine, or a plan refined through trust.
